The County Government of Bomet, through the Department of Lands, Housing and Urban Planning, in collaboration with Bomet Municipality has commenced the demolition of illegal structures under development within Bomet Municipality.
This exercise is part of an ongoing effort to uphold proper urban planning, maintain the town’s development standards and ensure that all activities operate smoothly within designated zones.
This exercise underscores the CGoB’s committment to promoting organized and sustainable urban development by enforcing urban planning regulations and ensuring that all upcoming structures follow the approved procedures.
Amidst the demolitions, the department has urged all developers and residents to seek proper approvals before initiating any construction works to avert losses occasioned by demolition of illegal structures around the municipality.
According to the CECM Lands, Housing and Urban planning Joseph Kirui, this exercise will be conducted in Sotik municipality as well as other towns with illegal structures across Bomet County.
The exercise was supervised by CEC Kirui, CO Issa Yarrow, Bomet Municipality Manager Davis Kirui among other officials from the department.
