Prof. Hillary Barchok Bids Farewell to Outgoing CO, Gender, Culture and Social Services

Bomet Governor Prof. Hillary Barchok, this morning, bade farewell to the outgoing Chief Officer for Gender, Culture,and Social Services, Ms. Pauline Korir, who is leaving the county government to serve the country at the national level.

During the brief function held at his office, Governor Barchok commended Ms. Korir for her outstanding leadership, dedication, and commitment to public service, acknowledging her role in strengthening the department and steering it towards sustainable progress.

“We are grateful for the exemplary service you gave the people of Bomet while serving as the CO, over the past three years. Under your watch, the gender department has achieved a lot and we wish you the best even as you embark on your next assignment in the public service”, Said Barchok.

The governor further noted that her efforts had left a lasting impact and expressed confidence that her successor would build upon the gains made under her tenure, adding that Ms. Korir had set the bar high not just for her successor but even for her former colleagues in other departments.

On her part, Ms. Korir highlighted the notable milestones achieved during her tenure, citing progress made in strengthening gender programs, promoting cultural initiatives, and enhancing the delivery of social services. She explained that her leadership had focused on empowering women, promoting inclusivity, and ensuring that vulnerable groups within the community had greater access to essential services.

Ms. Korir further outlined a number of pending issues that will require attention to ensure seamless continuity in the department’s operations. She stressed the need for continued focus on gender equality and community development programs, urging the county to build on the solid foundation already laid.

In his recent reshuffle among the COs, Prof. Barchok deployed Ms. Hellen Chepkoech to replace Ms. Korir as the CO Gender, Culture and Social services. Ms. Chepkoech formerly served as the CO, Youth and Sports.
