DP Kindiki Visits Bomet to Inspect Development Projects

Deputy President Prof. Kithure Kindiki has, for the better part of the day, toured Bomet County where he inspected various development projects being undertaken by the Kenya Kwanza government under the stewardship of President William Ruto.

In the company of Governor Prof. Hillary Barchok, the DP kicked off his busy schedule in the county by inspecting the ongoing works on Kyogong-Kapkesosio-Sigor-Chebunyo/Sigor-Lelaitich-Kipreres-Longisa road.

The 65-KM stretch of road being constructed at a cost of Kshs 2.1B in Chepalungu Constituency is expected to unlock the economic potential of the area and, indeed, the entire county of Bomet.

“The Roads and Transport Ministry has been instructed to closely monitor the performance of road construction to ensure speedy completion and quality works now that the sustainable funding for road construction has been unlocked by the president”, Said the DP.

The DP further said that the Kenya Kwanza administration is constructing over 525KMs of road to bitumen standards across Bomet County, at a cost of Kshs 19.5B.

The DP then made his way to Chebunyo market where he inspected the ongoing construction of the Chebunyo Economic Stimulus Programme (ESP) market being contructed at cost of Kshs 57M.

The facility, that is currently 60% complete, will provide a dignified environment for Mama mboga and other small scale businessmen plying their trade in the fast-growing market centre.

“This new market will provide modern facilities such as cold rooms, lactation rooms for mothers with infants, a social hall, a restaurant and a fully equipped ICT hub for e-commerce and digital job opportunities”, said Kindiki.

The DP later addressed thousands of jubilant Kenya Kwanza supporters at Chebunyo Market where he reiterated President Ruto’s commitment to deliver all promises he made not just to the people of Bomet but to the entire country.

On his part, Governor Prof. Hillary Barchok thanked the DP for the visit, adding that his administration is working closely with the national government to bring development to the people of Bomet.

The governor appreciated President Ruto’s support to his administration, saying that several projects are currently underway while three hospitals are already complete and awaiting commissioning by the president in the near future.

The DP was also accompanied by County Commissioner Carolyne Nzwili, Senator Hilary Sigei, Woman Representative Linet Chepkorir, Chepalungu MP Victor Koech, MCAs, among others.
