PIU team led by Julius Barno and Dr Selelah Okoth championed the multi-faceted engagement aimed at facilitating a swift resolution of grievances and champion best practices for CSO involvement in county-led climate action initiatives.

Bomet CSO Network led by Secretary Gideon Kemei had raised a grievance on the implementation and sustainability of the FLLoCA projects in the county.

The PIU, working with Bomet’s CCU and local CSOs, is ensuring that community concerns are addressed transparently and efficiently which include improving accessibility to complaint channels and streamlining the resolution process, fostering trust and accountability among all stakeholders.

Furthermore, the PIU is promoting effective CSO engagement with county governments, recognizing CSOs’ vital role in grassroots climate action as well as integrating CSOs into the implementation of FLLoCA projects, leveraging their local knowledge and community networks for more inclusive and impactful interventions.

To confirm progress of the projects, the PIU team, CCU and CSO representatives also visited FLLoCA-funded projects in Bomet. These included the Olbobo borehole in Kipreres, which addresses water scarcity, the Siloam Fishpond in Longisa ward, promoting climate-resilient livelihoods, and the mango-growing group Olesoi Widows Group in Nyangores ward, supporting vulnerable in the communities.

The visits underscored the tangible benefits of FLLoCA and the importance of sustained collaboration for successful project implementation.
