The Department of Health Services today held a public participation forum to deliberate on the proposed construction of Tarakwa Level 5 Referral Hospital in Mutarakwa Ward, Bomet Central Sub-County.
The exercise brought together local residents, community leaders, healthcare stakeholders, and interested members of the public to review and give input on the multi-million-shilling infrastructure project.
During the session, residents were given a platform to air their views, raise concerns, ask questions, and submit recommendations regarding the establishment of the facility. County officials noted that the engagement forms a crucial part of the project’s planning phase, reinforcing the local administration’s policy on inclusive decision-making and public consultation for major development projects.
Once completed, the proposed Level 5 hospital is expected to significantly boost local health infrastructure, providing specialized clinical care, reducing pressure on neighboring facilities, and improving overall health outcomes across Bomet County.
The forum was presided over by the Chief Officer for Health Services, Mr. Felix Langat. Also present were Mutarakwa Ward Member of County Assembly (MCA) Hon. Robert Langat, alongside senior Bomet County health officials and local community representatives.
