Dr. Benard Cheruiyot is the current CECM for Gender, Culture, and Social Services. He previously served as the CECM for Water, Sanitation, Environment, Natural Resources, and Climate Change in the County Government of Bomet.

Born in 1984 in Chelegelet Village, Chebunyo Ward, Chepalungu Sub-County, Dr. Cheruiyot is a seasoned statistician, educator, and community leader with a strong academic background. He earned his PhD in Applied Statistics from JKUAT in 2021, building on earlier achievements: a Master’s degree in Statistics from UoN in 2011 and a Bachelor of Education in Science from Egerton University in 2007. His educational journey began at Chebelion Primary School, where he completed his KCPE in 1997, followed by Kaboson Secondary School, where he completed his KCSE in 2001.

Dr. Cheruiyot’s dedication to the field of statistics is evident in his diverse work experience. Since November 2022, he has served as the County Executive Committee Member for Water, Sanitation, Environment, Natural Resources, and Climate Change in the County Government of Bomet. Before this, he made significant contributions to academia and administration at the University of Kabianga, where he held positions such as Lecturer, Head of the Statistics Section, Assistant Lecturer, and Examinations Coordinator from 2012 to 2022. His influence also extended internationally during his tenure as an Assistant Lecturer at Mwenge University College in Moshi, Tanzania, where he played a key role in developing the curriculum for the BSc. in Applied Statistics program.

In addition to his professional work, Dr. Cheruiyot is deeply involved in community service. He currently chairs the Boards of Management for Kapkulumben Secondary School, Chebelion Secondary School, and Chelegelet Primary School, demonstrating his commitment to fostering education at both secondary and primary levels.

Dr. Benard Cheruiyot is not only a dedicated professional and community leader but also a devoted family man. He is married with children and is a Christian. His multifaceted contributions reflect his passion for making a positive impact at every level.
