Hon. Joseph K. Kirui, the current CECM for Land, Housing and Urban Planning in the County Government of Bomet was born on May 12, 1963, in Kapkures, Kipsonoi Ward, Sotik Constituency. He has a remarkable journey marked by academic excellence and dedicated community service. His educational journey began at Kamureito Primary School in 1971, where he laid the foundation for his success.
In 1978, he sat for his CPE examination, where he emerged as the 3rd best student nationally and the leading student in the entire Kericho district. From 1979 to 1982, he proceeded to Rift Valley Technical School, followed by his A-level studies at Nairobi School from 1983 to 1984.
Hon. Kirui’s commitment to education continued as he pursued a BMM degree at the University of Kabianga from 2015 to 2017. He further enriched his knowledge by completing an MBA degree at the same institution from 2018 to 2021.
His professional journey began at KCB, where he worked from 1985 to February 2001, rising to the position of Head of Department. During his tenure, he attended the KCB Institute of Banking, pursuing various courses, including Basic Banking, Specialized Lending Credit, International Banking, and Accounting 1 & 2. In 2001, Joseph chose to retire under the voluntary retirement scheme. He joined Habitat for Humanity Kenya (NGO) from 2001 to 2007. Simultaneously, he served as a Board member of Kapchekosiom Primary School and Kiptulwo Dispensary, from 2001 to 2022.
From 2008 to 2017, Hon. Kirui assumed the role of Chair for NG-CDF in Sotik constituency, which was ranked the best in 2016. In December 2022, his dedication and leadership qualities led to his appointment as the County Executive Committee Member (CECM) at the County Government of Bomet.
Beyond his professional and civic engagements, Hon. Kirui is a family man, married with children. His faith is a guiding force, evident in his role as a Christian and Lay Leader at Side AGC. Additionally, he engages in dairy farming and passionately supports volleyball and athletics. Hon. Kirui’s commitment to uplifting the less fortunate underscores his impact on both education and community development.
