The Inaugural Bomet Youth Conference

The County Government of Bomet held an insightful and exciting Youth Conference, which drew over 1500 enthusiastic participants from across the county. The interactive sessions held during the conference proved to be a catalyst for empowering youth to confront the challenges they encounter in their daily lives.

The conference featured a distinguished panel comprising experts from various sectors of the economy, who delved into essential topics such as entrepreneurship skills, job market linkages, and opportunities in the digital space. These discussions provided attendees with valuable insights on how to leverage their talents and resources to thrive in today’s competitive world.

In a bid to further support the aspirations of the youth, Bomet County Governor, Prof. Hillary Barchok, announced plans to organize a business idea competition.

“This initiative aims to foster innovation and entrepreneurship by offering capital to the top five business ideas from each ward across the 25 ward. The financial support will enable the young men and women to turn their ideas into successful venture”. He stated

Governor Barchok further stated that his administration is committed to hosting more conferences in future aimed at equipping youth with essential life skills. By facilitating these learning opportunities, they aim to give young people the edge they need to excel in various aspects of their lives.

The event was attended by Senator Wakili Hillary Sigei who advised youth to embrace the opportunities that lies ahead of them with courage and conviction.

“My dear youth, I stand here not only as your representative but as a partner in your aspirations and dreams. I urge you to seize this moment, to embrace the opportunities that lie ahead with courage and conviction. In the corridors of power, your voices matter; your dreams hold weight. It is time for us to join hands, to break barriers, and to pave the way for a brighter tomorrow”. He Stated.

“Education, my friends, is the cornerstone of progress. Let us never underestimate the power of knowledge to transform lives and communities. With every lesson learned, with every skill acquired, you are not just shaping your own destiny, but the destiny of our beloved county and nation”. He added.

Other notable speakers during the event advised youth  not forget challenges that lie before them,  to stand up, speak out and to fight for what is right.
