The County Government of Bomet has, this morning, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with CA Medlynks, with a view to improving the people’s access to timely and high quality Cancer diagnostic services.
Upon signing of the MOU with the Health Services Department, CA Medlynks will introduce advanced cancer diagnostic equipment at Longisa County Referral Hospital with no capital investment required from the county or the Hospital.
The MOU was signed by Health Services CECM Dr. Joseph Sitonik on behalf of the County Government of Bomet and Yoichi Shimada, representing CA Medlynks.
The equipment to be introduced will include histopathology and molecular diagnostics equipment.
Further, CA Medlynks will support the hospital by deploying specialized staff, providing sample logistics, and delivering test results digitally in real time, while offering continuous clinical support and capacity building for hospital staff.
The partnership aims to reduce turnaround times for cancer diagnostics, ensure consistency in reporting, and make oncology services more accessible to the local population without patient referrals to distant facilities.
The arrangement is expected to streamline diagnosis pathways, strengthen Longisa County Referral Hospital’s role as a regional centre of excellence and improve patient outcomes through collaborative tumour boards, mentorship, and knowledge exchange with international partners.
The model will also establish a new revenue stream for the hospital and foster sustainability.
This joint effort will be a milestone in bridging the cancer diagnostics gap in Bomet County, ensuring quality and timely care closer to home for all patients.
Other officials who witnessed the signing of the MOU included the Director Health Services Dr. Benard Sawek, Longisa County Referral Hospital management led by the Medical Superintendent Dr Esau Lang’at and the County Oncologist Dr. Mercy Mbai.
