Construction of Kipchamba Stadium Commences

The County Government of Bomet has, this morning, handed over the site for the proposed Kshs 950 Million, 10,000-Seater Kipchamba National Stadium at Kipranye Grounds, Nyangores Ward.

The facility will be done on land recently purchased by the county government at Kyogong and will be supervised by the state department of defence.

The groundbreaking was officiated by, Governor Prof. Hillary Barchok, the State Department of Defense Principal Secretary Dr Patrick Mariru and the State Department of Sports Principal Secretary Elijah Mwangi and was graced by the Senate Majority Leader, Hon Aaron Cheruiyot.

Speaking at the function, governor Barchok disclosed that the ultra modern stadium will consist of a CAF standard football field and a tartan athletic track.

The extra land around the stadium will be fenced and secured for the future construction of an indoor volleyball and basketball arena and a warming up running track.

“Today’s ground breaking marks a turning point in sports and talent development in Bomet. In addition to nurturing sporting talent and hosting sporting events, the stadium will boost the economic fortunes of Bomet Town, create employment and generate revenue”, Said the governor.

The project is expected to be completed in February, 2027.

“We thank H.E President William Ruto and the Kenya Kwanza Government for this major sports development investment in our county”, added the governor.

Also present were Deputy Governor H.E Shadrack Rotich, Bomet Senator Hon Hillary Sigei, Chepalungu MP Hon Victor Mandazi and several honourable members of the Bomet County Assembly led by the Majority Leader Hon Paul Kirui and area MCA Hon. Joseah Samoei of Nyangores Ward.
