Bomet County Solarization Project

The County Government of Bomet has kicked off the installation of solar panels at the Bomet water Treatment works as a measure of reducing operating costs thus ensuring a steady supply of water in Bomet municipality.

Through the department of water, Environment and Natural resources, the county government to leverage on this project to revolutionize BOMWASCO’s operations, and provide a sustainable and cost-effective energy source for the water stations, significantly cutting down on the high electricity expenses.

“We are commited to ensuring that all the residents have access to clean and safe water at all times. This solarization project is not only a critical step towards reducing the plant’s high electricity expenses but also marks a significant stride in addressing water crisis in Bomet”, CO water Mr. Solomon Kimetto said.

The installation, which is part of a broader initiative to enhance water supply stability, will harness the abundant solar energy to power the water treatment process.

This decisive steps marks a positive step towards overcoming water crisis and ensuring a stable water supply, hence resolving the menace and implementing sustainable solutions like this solar energy.

This development signals a promising future for water services in our county, one where sustainability and efficiency go hand in hand.

At the same time, the BOMWASCO board met Governor Hillary Barchok over the the recommendation by the Senate and the county assembly of Bomet to have BOMWASCO restructured to enhance its capacity to address the perennial water challenge in Bomet.

During the meeting that was done at the governor’s office, Governor Prof. Hillary Barchok committed to implement the recommendations to the letter, for the greater good of the people of Bomet.
