Construction of Roads

The County Government has, this week, embarked on an ambitious plan to open up new roads and maintain existing ones to ease transport and communication for Wananchi, across the 25 wards.

Speaking while on an inspection tour of the ongoing road works in Sigowet-Kap Kariokor in Chemaner Ward of Bomet East Constituency, Governor Hillary Barchok expressed his optimism that an improved transport network will facilitate the easy movement of goods and services thus boosting businesses.

“I have witnessed the progress we are making in improving connectivity and fostering economic growth in our rural areas through road construction and rehabilitation”, said Prof. Barchok while interacting with residents of Sigowet village.

The governor assured residents that he will keep a close eye on the projects to ensure that they conform to the required standards and that the taxpayer gets value for their money.

The governor added that once the Sigowet-Kap Kariokor project is complete, the road construction equipment would be deployed to Mincheiwet-Leldom road in Lelkatet Location, with a view to enhancing infrastructure across the County.

From Bomet East Sub County, the road construction equipment recently procured by the County Government will cross over to Bomet Central Sub County and, thereafter, to Chepalungu Sun County for the same mission. Konoin and Sotik will follow suit.

The projects are done under the close supervision of the Ag. CECM for Roads, Transport and Public Works Agnes Ng’eno and the department Chief Officer.
