The County Government of Bomet through the Department of Health Services and the Department of Gender and Social Services in partnership with Days for Girls Kenya organization, held a stakeholders meeting for School Head teachers and parents towards the rolling out of a menstrual health and hygiene program for our girls.
This program is set to roll out in our schools in the coming weeks and it works towards eliminating stigma and limitations associated with menstruation so that women and girls have improved health, education, and livelihoods.
The training also aimed at sensitizing teachers on health and education designed to help them advocate and deliver menstrual health education in their fields, including a version for men and boys.
The project covers three counties; Kisii, Nyamira and Bomet and targets grade 6 and 7 pupils with 70%of the target being school children and 30% in the community.
In attendance were Deputy Director Teachers Service Commission Bomet, CSO Bomet East and other officials.
Meanwhile, the County Government of Bomet, through the Department of Roads, Transport, and Public Works, has begun rehabilitation of the Mugango Shopping Center–Kap Kihara Road in Bomet Central Sub-County.
This crucial upgrade is set to ease movement, open up markets, and significantly boost the local economy by enhancing trade and transport for residents and businesses in the area.
This is in line with Governor prof. Hillary Barchok’s manifesto which focuses more on a good transport network to provide a conducive environment for businesses to thrive. Such roadworks are replicated across the 25 wards in Bomet.
