Emotions run high as CO Chepkwony is laid to rest

Former Bomet County Government Chief Officer, Finance, CPA Erick Chepkwony was laid yo rest at his Chepchabas home, Konoin Sub County in a ceremony attended by, among others, Bomet Governor Hillary Barchok this afternoon.

The emotional ceremony saw mourners break down as family, friends, colleagues and leaders euologized the late Chepkwony as a gem that served the public with trust, humility and commitment.

Addressing the mourners, Governor Barchok described the late Chepkwony as a personal friend and a confidant whose departure has hit him hard.

“The sudden demise of CPA Chepkwony, our CO Finance has robbed us of such a hardworking member of our staff as a County and it will take sometime before we come to terms with the fact that he is no more”, Said the governor.

The governor went on to describe the departed CO as a public servant who had left an indelible mark wherever he worked, urging every other staff both at the county and the national level to emulate him for the betterment of the people they serve.

In their tribute, the family of the late Chepkwony led by his wife Winny described him as a giant whose love was the bedrock of their family, his laughter filled their home and his integrity lit the path they walked together.

“We will miss your laughter, your wise words, your hugs, and the way you always made us feel safe. Home will never feel the same without you. Even though you’re no longer with us physically, we promise to make you proud. We will carry your name with honor, live by your values, and love one another the way you loved us”, Said Chepkwony’s wife, Winny.

The late Chepkwony is survived by his widow Winny Chepkwony, three children namely Olivia Chebet, Ryan Kipchumba Yegon and Ethan Kimutai Yegon.

The funeral service was attended by, among others, area MP Brighton Yegon, his Emurrua Dikir Counterpart Johana Ng’eno, Senators Hillary Sigey and Kiprotich Cherargei, Women rep Linnet Toto and Bomet County Assembly MCAs led by Speaker Cosmas Korir.
