Owallo Leads Team On Inspection And Verification Of National Government Projects In Bomet County.

The Deputy Chief of Staff, Delivery and Government Efficiency, Elliud Owalo, today, visited Bomet County for a comprehensive inspection and verification of key National Government projects being implemented by various state agencies, across Bomet County.

The focus of the visit was to assess progress, unlock bottlenecks and ensure timely delivery of transformative projects that directly impact livelihoods and spur economic development.

Key projects inspected included:

1. Bomet–Longisa–Mulot Water Supply & Sanitation Project: Once complete, the Kshs 1.9B investment is expected to supply clean water to over 394,000 residents. Previously stalled due to contract issues, the project was revived through GDU intervention in January 2025.

2. Silibwet–Merigi–Chemaner–Longisa Road: The 75-KM road is being upgraded to bitumen standards by KeRRA at a cost of Ksh 2.8B. The road corridor will connect Bomet, Narok, and Nakuru counties. It was revived in August 2025 following a Presidential directive.

3. Longisa–Sigor–Kyogong–Sigor Roads: The 60 km road project, now at 26% progress, is being implemented by KeRRA at a cost of KES 2.1B. Revived in March 2024 through a Presidential directive, the project is on track for completion by March 2026 and will significantly enhance mobility and agricultural growth.

4. Bomet Affordable Housing Project (AHP): This is a Ksh 547M initiative that will deliver 220 affordable and social housing units in Chepalungu. Now at 97% completion, the project will uplift living standards through modern, dignified housing.

5. Bomet Airstrip Construction: The Kshs 214.3M project is being implemented by the Kenya Airports Authority (KAA). It involves upgrading a 1KM runway to bitumen standards and securing the facility with a perimeter fence. The airstrip will boost connectivity, support medical evacuations from Tenwek Mission Hospital, and promote tourism, agriculture, and manufacturing.

6. Bomet University College Library Block: Standing at 96% completion, this project will provide modern learning facilities to support the growing student population.

“These inspections underscore the government’s unwavering commitment to restoring stalled projects, enforcing accountability, and accelerating delivery for the benefit of the people of Kenya. The Government Delivery Unit will continue to drive results that strengthen service delivery, stimulate economic growth, and uphold value for taxpayers”, Owallo said.

Owallo’s team had earlier on paid a courtesy call to the office of the governor where they were received by DG Shadrack Rotich on behalf of Governor Prof. Hillary Barchok
