Two CECMs, County Public Service Board Members, Sworn In

Bomet Governor Prof. Hillary Barchok has presided over the swearing-in of two new members of his cabinet alongside new members of Bomet County Public Service Board at a ceremony held at his office, this evening.

Patrick Kiplang’at Maritim took oath to serve as County Executive Member for Water, Sanitation, Environment, Natural Resources and Climate while Cecilia Chepkoech Mutai was sworn in as the County Executive Member for Gender, Culture and Social Services.

The two were sworn in following their rigorous vetting and subsequent approval by the County Assembly of Bomet after being nominated for their respective positions by the governor.

Speaking during the function, the governor expressed his confidence in the duo, adding that they were accomplished public servants who had excelled in their previous capacities in the public service.

“As you assume your respective offices, let it not be lost on you that the offices you hold are public and, as such, you must put the interests of the people of Bomet before anything else”, Said the governor.

Mr. Maritim is taking over from Mrs. Juliah Chepkuto while Mrs. Mutai is taking over from Mr. Bernard Tonui whose tenure as CECMs lapsed a few months ago.

Meanwhile, the new chairman of the County Public Service Board alongside three new members and a new CEO were also sworn in. This now makes the board fully constituted to discharge its mandate.

Stanley K Maritim took oath as the chair, while Stephen Arap Bett, Joseph Kipkurui Bett, Joyce Chepkoech Kemei were sworn in as members of the board even as Calvin Kibet Kitur was sworn in as the CEO cum secretary to the board.

The new members were vetted and approved by the county assembly and are taking over from their predecessors whose contracts lapsed recently.

The oaths were administered by County Attorney John Mark Langat and was witnessed by MCAs led by speaker Cosmas Korir, CECs, COs, among others.

The new appointments take effect, immediately.
