Bomet joins other counties in SHIF transition.

The County Government of Bomet has joined the rest of the country in registering wananchi for the new Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF) which replaces the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF), ahead of it’s launch tomorrow, 1st October 2024.
All the 129 facility in-charges received the SHA gadgets, Tablets, Power-banks and Sim-cards allocated to each facility for the purpose of claiming facility funds. In addition, the County Government entered into a contract for the provision of Healthcare services to beneficiaries of Social Health Authority.
The Community Health Promoters (CHPs) across all the five sub counties also received training on the new Healthcare system, SHA and they will help in the registration of people. The system is expected to generate more revenue to facilities.
The Social Health Authority (SHA) is mandated to manage three funds that will replace NHIF. These are the Primary Healthcare Fund (PHF), the Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF), and the Emergency, Chronic and Critical Illness Fund (ECCIL)
Through his Facebook page, Governor Prof. Hillary Barchok has called on all members of the public to register their households to benefit from the new scheme, adding that his administration will deploy all measures to ensure that no one is left behind.
The president is expected to lead the country in transitioning to SHIF, tomorrow.
The trainings were done across all the 25 wards in Bomet and were supervised by our Public Health Officers led by CECM Dr. Joseph Sitonik, CO Felix Lang’at and a team from the Social Health Authority, SHA.
