The county department of Youth and Sports, led by the Chief Officer Dr Nelson Tore, has finalized draft formulation of the Bomet Youth Policy and Bomet Sports Policy which are set to undergo final stages before adoption and implementation.
The Youth policy aims at enhancing youth mainstreaming through targeted socio-economic empowerment of the youth through initiatives such as youth enterprise fund, youth internships, access to AGPO quota in county tenders, among many others.
On the other hand, the Bomet Sports Policy aims to streamline sporting activities through deliberate investment in Sports and sporting facilities such as annual organization of Governor’s Cup, Athletics championship, identification and development of talents, operationalization of Tegat talent camp, support to active clubs, construction and development of stadiums among others.
The two policies will undergo validation exercises to take into account the input of the youth and sports stakeholders for fine tuning before approval by the Cabinet and subsequent forwarding to the county assembly for deliberation and possible adoption as county policies, guiding budgetary allocations, work plans and programs prioritization.
