The plan by the Kenya Kwanza Government to extend the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) line from Naivasha to Malaba, via Bomet, has begun in ernest.

The extension of the SGR phase 2B from Narok to Kisumu has commenced, with preliminary activities such as resettlement of those displaced by the project and survey works.

In light of this, the Kenya Railways advanced team led by the General Manager – Technical services Eng. Tobias Otieno paid a courtesy call to the office of the governor, this morning, and was received by County Secretary Simon Lang’at on behalf of Governor Prof. Hillary Barchok.

Also present were; Eng. Ndung’u Waititu, George Kimeu both of APEC Consortium Ltd, Eng. Nathaniel Ochieng’, Kenya Railways and Rehema Kiteto, representing the office of the County Commissioner.

The SGR will boost regional trade and connectivity, enhance passenger transport and improve economic activities in the region.
