Bomet Governor Prof. Hillary Barchok has thanked president William Ruto for his commitment to deliver the proposed Bosto dam, to address water shortage in Bomet county.
Speaking while hosting Water, Sanitation and Irrigation CS Erick Muga in his office this afternoon, governor Barchok said that the mega project will suplly water to over 75% of households in Bomet, and various areas in the neighbouring Kericho County.
“We appreciate the president, H.E William Ruto for his commitment to provide clean and safe water for the people of Bomet County. By securing funding for the proposed Bosto dam during his recent visit to China, the president has demonstrated to us that he has the interests of our people, at heart”, Barchok Said.
During his recent visit to China, the president secured Kshs 15B from the Chinese government for the construction of the dam. The project aligns with the Kenya Kwanza’s Bottom Up Economic Transformation Agenda through supporting Agricultural Production and enhancing access to clean water by the common mwananchi.
With the project expected to start soon, Water, Sanitation and Irrigation CS Muga was in Bomet to hold talks with Governor Barchok over the same, and other water projects like the ongoing Mulot-Longisa water project.
The National Water Authority (NWA) is the implementing agency of the project that is expected to be completed in the next three years.
